Yoshiki and Hikaru grew up together in a isolated, sun-drenched rural village, sharing an unspoken bond. But one winter, Hikaru vanishes into the mountains for a week, only to return completely unchanged on the surface. Except, Yoshiki knows the truth. The entity wearing his best friend’s face, speaking with his voice, and mimicking his warmth is something else entirely: a cosmic horror born from the shadows of the forest. Knowing that his real friend is gone, Yoshiki chooses to cling to this terrifying counterfeit, plunging into a bittersweet, suffocating summer of grief, hidden entities, and an affection so deep it borders on madness.
