​​Having suffered decades of under-investment, the Bronx is New York City’s poorest borough. It is also one of the most diverse places in the nation, with over 30 languages spoken and numerous close-knit communities. When COVID-19 hit New York City, the Bronx quickly became the epicenter of cases and hospitalizations, and a long history of medical neglect and a deeply ingrained distrust of medical providers and the government meant a slow recovery and an under vaccination of New York’s most vulnerable residents.
